What else to do with your gold? When you keep running into the storage limit for gold, you got to do something with it.

Awful attempt at deflection there, too. I'd suggest you stop trying.

Actually, let's leave this. It's pointless, derailing, and we're just going to get a warning for bickering in public.
Feel free to PM me if you fancy carrying on though.

You can buy a perfect anything from a weapon smith, slap a couple of mods on it and wallah you have a perfect weapon just the same as some 800 ecto item. I guess that is the status symbol of leetness in this game since it really has no power elements or anything of any significant value other than vanity. Someone got a super claw of leetness looks so they are better than you syndrome?? lol
Titles appear about the same there's only really a handful worth going after: Treasure hunter, Wisdom, Lucky I guess, Sunspear/Lightbringer, one of the two Faction ones Kurzick or Luxon and then the GWEN faction titles for Norn, Asura and Human? Only those that benefit actual skills used and improve treasure hunting skills and less breakage of keys are worth going after. I just don't see wasting time or money going after drunkard, survivor, sweet-tooth, tinkerbell in tights or any of those other senseless childish titles. If all titles gave some advantage within the game then I could see going after them. But, there are so few that do.

E-Peen only applies if a person is bragging superiority by owning a specific item/title/armour set/etc... which is quite obviously ridiculous and hardly needs comment.
If it's just people enjoying their own metagame by working toward a desired aesthetic, then why does it even bother you so much?

Elemental swords seem to be down to 2k, which is nice. I bought one for my Ritualist since it goes really nicely with Ritualist Vabbian armour, and because they're finally low enough to be worth buying.

I'm glad you're not in charge of that. Or indeed, in charge of anything.

OP = everybody should look the same with ordinary items. Different is bad.
I like nice skins. People pay money for nice things. Isn't that why people wear branded clothing irl that does the same thing as cheap plain clothing?
Of course you do get the idiots paying loads of money for rare but ugly skins to brag they're rich whilst looking like a deformed retard.

While I've always appreciated your input and especially your pc knowledge, I'm sorry but I felt compelled to point out a very poignant inconsistency.

And here I was thinking the tongue-in-cheek nature of that post was quite blatant...
HINT: Read what comes before the snip you made and you'll notice how I was poking fun at myself. Pay attention, now.

Let me ask you this, ranger o mine:
When you buy items in real life, do you never consider their aesthetic value?
While function over form is a valiant ideal, and especially so if you have an extremely limited budget, if you can afford to pay for both the functionality AND a design you desire more then why would you not?
There's no point hoarding cash in game, you may as well spend it on something you enjoy.

I would say that black obsi armors are dominant just because black is the most expensive dye. As with other expensive items, it does not matter if it looks awful - it's the bling bling that matters. The new black is horrible. And what's more, there are very few armors that dye well with it.

Great point. I live hand-to-mouth in GW. Platinum in / platinum out. I get what I want and take no joy in counting plat that isn't going to do something for me realtively soon.
I don't dislike when people show off their "leet" stuff. It only adds flavor to the game. There will always be the have / have nots - can't ever avoid that.

It's trivial, not trivia. If something is trivial it's insignificant. No one uses trivia in that sense. Google "trivia" and see what you come up with.

That's ok, let everyone think that you think equipment is a quiz, it's more amusing that way.
As far as the OP is concerned, on a basic level, as much as GW states its' anti-grind policy, people will always MAKE grind out of it. You don't need to grind for those awesome skins, but people will do it anyway because they need the satisfaction.
The trouble with a truly anti-grind MMO is that no one will want to play it. People play MMOs for -some- sort of grind, and although GW tried all it could, the fact that some weapons look better then others and are less apt to drop means that people will grind for it.
Why else to people die they're armor black? it sure -looks- crappy, but it's more expensive. If this game didn't have the little grind it does, it'd be real boring. In fact, since I don't personally care about vanity items, and all I care about is gameplay and PvE, this game is pretty boring to me as it is, because once you hit 20 and get that good skill bar, everything else is vanity, vanity vanity
or to use a different word, it's all trivial.
